A clock with 3d characters dancing to pass time. Inspired by cossack dance and Soviet Russia.
I wanted to create a clock with 3D rendered elements. When I began brainstorming ideas, everything came to me in rapid succession: I thought I probably should add some human figure to the composition. Soon after I imagined a cossack doing the iconic crouch kick to keep the seconds. Then I thought about the soviet poster aesthetics, then the Saint Basil Cathedral, the lettering inspired by the cyrillic alphabet and soviet type on propaganda posters.
It is uncanny how close the final result is to the clock I had in my head.
Some details I figured out during the process was how would the cossacks interact with one another and how would I add and remove cossacks from the stage. I think the animations are on point and cute.
I am very happy with this clock.
