A brazilian colloquial text word clock with imprecise language.
I really like clocks with hands, so much so that I only wanna design them. That’s why I designed a clock without hands… really, I don’t want to trap myself in a design corner so I decided to make a watch without hands.

Next I considered not using numbers, only words. I like the idea of a clock that shows the time the way we would say it. This means the time is not told in a precise manner, but uses a more practical speech pattern.
Soon I realized I don’t like imprecise watches, but I still wanted to create a word watch with colloquial (imprecise) language. The compromise I found acceptable was to add a digital clock under the spoken time. The digital clock appears to be embossed into the canvas, a discrete way of telling “this is not the main feature”. The star is the descriptive time in bold and bright colors at the center of the composition.
The phrasing and grammar conventions used on the clock are based on my own. I like how, unintentionally, this clock is a record of how people in my region speak, which adds some authenticity to this piece and sets it in a place and time.
The last details I worked in this clock were the background and the outter frame. The diamonds add some variety and dynamic flare to the piece.
I really like how this clock turned out, despite not having hands.
