A space exploration Kurzgesagt-inspired digital clock.
There’s a special sequence on every hour change.
We watch a spaceship orbiting a planet. A helper satellite blips every second scouting the terrain and atmosphere for a place to land. Over the planet, a hud indicates the current hour while the minutes are kept on the spaceship’s hatch. After completing a full orbit, on the change of the hour, the spaceship lands on the planet. A tiny astronaut leaves the ship, plants his flag, pays his respects and rushes back to his ship to lift off and leave the planet behind because there are new planets to discover.
Tha planets are generated and were inspired by Kurzgesagt designs. Every hour on a day has its own planet, the planets never repeat. The same time tomorrow the astronaut will be orbiting a different planet than this. I like this.
I added so much details like the blipping lights on the satellite, how the planet illuminates the hull of the spaceship. The flag planting sequence, the landing and lift off sequences, falling stars… it’s a shame most of it is “hidden” and only appear during the change of the hour. I added a hidden button on the upper left corner to trigger the landing animation anytime.
So far, this is my clock with most animations, moments and generated features.
I like this clock.
I used Orbitron font, designed by Matt McInerney, for the hour, the minutes on the hatch and the time shown during the hour change, and Comfortaa font, designed by Johan Aakerlund, for the flag. Both under the SIL Open Font License.
